The RBV Story

If you’ve taken a glance at our website and social media platforms, you’ve probably noticed the saying, “We Dig Detroit.” Figuratively and literally digging Detroit isn’t all that RBV Contracting does, but we are extremely proud to call the Comeback City “home.”

We opened our doors at one of the riskiest times for business owners.

Long before our owners, Rodolfo “Rudy” Villarreal and Jim Foucher, were business partners, the two worked alongside each other on numerous job sites. After years of experience, the spark for entrepreneurialism, and the realization that things could be done better, the two founded RBV Contracting, Inc.

In 2011, RBV opened its Detroit-headquarters — at a time when the city’s economy was on a rampant downward spiral. As newfound entrepreneurs, Rudy and Jim utilized local resources by enrolling in numerous Small Business Administration workshops, referencing educational tools, and attending various social functions. Within three years of opening their doors, RBV Contracting received HUBZone and 8(a) certification.

We’re a small business – and we’re proud of it.

RBV is small but mighty, and growing! In the past six years, our team has grown by 78-percent, and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. In fact, RBV Contracting has been recognized as one of the greatest small business throughout the state of Michigan.

Chosen for our entrepreneurial leadership, innovative techniques, creativity in the workplace and sustainable competitive advantage, RBV Contracting was named one of Michigan’s Top 50 Companies to Watch by Michigan Celebrates Small Business in March 2017. We were also crowned 2017 Government Contractor of the Year thanks to our profitable niche, previous recognitions, and experience with Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) of Michigan.

We’re dedicated to the community.

RBV Contracting’s growth has stemmed from our hands-on approach towards assisting in the revitalization of Detroit. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wayne County is currently experiencing a 7.0 percent unemployment rate, which is the county’s lowest rate in years.

Professional and business services had the largest increase in annual employment out of all employment sectors within Detroit, adding a total of 18,400 jobs to the city since September 2015. Specifically, jobs within the technical services industry–such as RBV Contracting–added nearly 11,000 jobs to the city since September 2015, alone. This increase equates to a 5.3-percent rise in employment within the professional and business services supersector.

We primarily look to hire Detroit and HUBZone residents in order to contribute to the city’s comeback and to provide local jobs. Because of our devotion to the city of Detroit, we’ve received support from the Small Business Administration (SBA), Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), and PNC Bank.
