2019 New Year’s Resolutions for Construction Contractors

The new year is finally here, and with that comes a renewed energy and dedication to making positive changes. January is a great time to reflect on the past year’s successes and shortcomings and create resolutions that you will actually stick to moving forward.

Our team at RBV had an incredibly successful 2018 and we are looking forward to continuing that momentum this year. We sat down and came up with 2019 new year’s resolutions that are not only great for our team to keep in mind, but are helpful for anyone in the construction contracting industry:

Continue to make Safety the #1 Priority

Safety always has been, and always will be, the #1 priority for our team at RBV, but it is important that this stays on our resolution list and that we never lose sight of the importance of understanding, reviewing, and implementing proper safety procedures.

We pride ourselves in maintaining the highest level of safety for everyone working on our projects, and will continue to invest in safety training for our team members. We hold weekly safety meetings and logged more than 200 hours in safety training last year. These efforts will only continue to grow as we move into 2019.

Encourage New Talent in the Industry

It is no secret that there is a talent shortage in the skilled trades, including construction. Our team has long been committed to fostering the education and hands-on training of younger generations in order to shape a brighter future for the industry as a whole, and this will continue to be a focus in 2019.

We have supported a variety of local programs that encourage young people to explore construction as a career path, including the Detroit-based Access for All Program and Michigan Construction Career Days. In 2019, our team will continue to help recruit more talented and passionate workers into the construction industry.

Community Engagement

Our team at RBV is fiercely proud of Detroit and we feel lucky to be able to call the great city “home.” Our team has dedicated both time and resources in the past to help move community projects forward and to help those in need. We will continue to seek out opportunities this year where our team can make a difference in our local community.

Embrace New Technology

The advancement of technology has had a drastic impact on the construction industry, and our team is constantly learning new ways in which we can embrace technology that will help us work more efficiently. This year we will be focused on driving efficiencies within our daily reporting system, which will further ensure all team members are on the same page.

While some people may lose sight of their resolutions by February, our team is committed to the above and to making this our best year yet.

Cheers to 2019!
